The Midland Entertainment District is Shawnee’s hub for dining, entertainment, and recreation making it a premier destination for tourists and locals.

The District features five hotels, and several restaurants that include everything from casual dining to fine dining, nightlife, and sports bars. Moviegoers can enjoy the latest blockbuster films at B&B Theater Shawnee 18 while those who enjoy live theater can get tickets for Music Theater Kansas City or Shawnee Mission Theater in the Park. Family-friendly fun can be found at Park Lanes arcade and bowling alley.

Nearby Shawnee Mission Lake offers scenic walking, hiking, and biking trails (bike rental available through Ride KC) as well as one of the best off-leash dog parks in Kansas City with beach access for your pet. The Shawnee Mission Lake Marina has seasonal kayak, paddleboard, and canoe rentals. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy fishing, swimming, archery, horseback riding, golf, disc golf, and an RC Plane landing strip.

Phase 2: December thru March 2025

Phase 1 has been completed. The project will pause through the winter from December 2024 to March 2025. Traffic flow will return to normal during this time.

Phase 3: March thru November 2025

Construction on the southbound bridge will begin in March 2025 and last until the completion of the project, estimated for November 2025. Midland Drive will again be closed during construction.

The southbound bridge construction will mirror the process used for the northbound bridge. Southbound traffic lanes will be diverted to the northbound lanes with northbound traffic moved to the on/off ramp at Midland Drive.
