DESCRIPTION:Homeschool families are invited to join us for an interactive educational program at our historic truck farm and recreated Shawnee Downtown! Families will self–guide through the activity stations across the museum\, including favorites like farmstead laundry and grocery shopping along with BONUS activities just for Homeschool Day! Stay tuned for activity announcements on our social media closer to the date.Pre-registration is required for this program. No walk-ins will be allowed. Admission is $6.00. Children under 5 are free. Register online or over the phone at (913) 248–2360 to sign up. Activity areas are open from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm\, and families are welcome to stay on the grounds after 1:00pm to eat lunch or self-guide open areas. The Museum closes at 4:30pm. Admission does not include a guided tour. Event is rain or shine. Registration opens by August 1.

SUMMARY:Veterans Lantern Tour
DESCRIPTION:On this very evening\, guests will step back in time to 1927! The whole community is abuzz with talk about the recent veterans of the World War I in town. They are fighting for support for national veteran’s rights\, and everyone has opinions! During their guided tour through the town and farm\, visitors will meet townspeople sharing stories of their experiences during the war\, and the hardships veterans faced returning to civilian life after they left the service – stories still relatable today. Following the tour\, guests are served complimentary hot cider around a bonfire with accompanying live music (weather permitting). On Saturday\, November 15\, timed tours will depart every 15 minutes to guide visitors through this immersive living history experience. Admission is $10.00 if you pre-register\, or $12.00 at the door. Free admission is offered for active and former military. Register online or over the phone at (913) 248–2360. Guests should arrive 15 minutes before the registered tour time. Expect 45-60 minutes of walking and standing with some limited seating in certain areas. Event is held rain or shine\, so dress for the weather during the Lantern Tour.
