Don’t let our Midwest Vibes fool you\, Kansas City is a hotspot for arts and entertainment\, culture\, and award winning BBQ! \nSituated within the most visited park in Kansas\, the festival grounds offer something for everyone. All teams will enjoy racing and a variety of additional dry-land activities. Spectators can easily take in the action and follow the excitement while learning about the sport of dragon boat. \nThe festival will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with parking at the Shawnee Mission Park Marina Parking Lot\, and near shelters #5 and #6\, with overflow parking near the Shawnee Mission Park Beach. Because of this event\, the lake will be closed to other uses until approximately 6 p.m. on Sept. 27\, 2025.

DESCRIPTION:Dog owners and dog lovers join us for a fun happy hour as Shawnee Town turns into an Off–Leash Dog Park for the night! \nPups will get to run and play in our fully-fenced 1920s downtown square while humans can enjoy the live music and atmosphere Thursday\, October 9 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Our partners Transport Brewery and Scotty C’s will also have drinks and gourmet hot dogs for purchase! DESCRIPTION:On this very evening\, guests will step back in time to 1927! The whole community is abuzz with talk about the recent veterans of the World War I in town. They are fighting for support for national veteran’s rights\, and everyone has opinions! During their guided tour through the town and farm\, visitors will meet townspeople sharing stories of their experiences during the war\, and the hardships veterans faced returning to civilian life after they left the service – stories still relatable today. Following the tour\, guests are served complimentary hot cider around a bonfire with accompanying live music (weather permitting). On Saturday\, November 15\, timed tours will depart every 15 minutes to guide visitors through this immersive living history experience. Admission is $10.00 if you pre-register\, or $12.00 at the door. Free admission is offered for active and former military. Register online or over the phone at (913) 248–2360. Guests should arrive 15 minutes before the registered tour time. Expect 45-60 minutes of walking and standing with some limited seating in certain areas. Event is held rain or shine\, so dress for the weather during the Lantern Tour.
